Magnum14 Years Young!!!!

Magnum turns 14 years old today!!!
Helen Marie says: "Magnum the Magnificent's 14th Birthday. Here is my favorite puppy photo of him. He is such a great companion, buddy, pal. My HEART Dog for sure!!! What a life that old 'dude' has had. He earned his CD at age 1, we got his AKC Ch at age 2 (owner handled). He has his UDX and 9 OTCH points. He earned his VER and his JH at age 12 1/2. He retired himself from Agility last year with am Excellent JumpersPreferred title and unfortunately short two legs from his Excellent Standard Preferred (old age caught up with him). He had four invitations to the Obedience Invitational and got to attend twice. AND he is the boy who survived virilent anal sac cancer at age 9. What this old man of mine has done and where he has taken me - so many of the things we did and the titles we earned together were FIRSTS for me - getting my feet wet and stumbling along with a dog who was willing to try anything I threw at him. HAPPY BIRTHDAY, MAGNUM!!!"

Happy Birthday to you Magnum, may you enjoy many happy days ahead!!

NEW CHAMPION - ROLLO!!!!!!

From Christy:

"Enormous announcement here, Rollo won BACK TO BACK 3 POINT MAJORS at Coyote Hills in Vallejo and FINISHED his championship with 17 points!!!!

He was BEST OF WINNERS today too.

Tomorrow he goes in as a special, and since I sent in his Woodstock entries for the 4 day cluster in June, he will special there as well. THEN he goes on a diet as breed Bostons are way fatter than performance Bostons.

This has been exciting and something I doubt I will EVER do again, but I can happily cross it off my "bucket list", One Champion dog, check!! "

Congratulations to you both, and he also just turned two years old. When Christy gets his win picture, I will post it. We always know the little guy was special. But remember - for the June shows, you promised him no more ear shaving!!!!

Celebration, now come on........................................................
Found this on Facebook - From Christy Rose

HUGE news flash, Rollo got a THREE POINT MAJOR today (Friday) in Vallejo!!! he looked great, and Janice did a spectacular job showing him for me. One more major and he is finished. There are majors tomorrow and Sunday for Boston boys so we have a chance. I told him when he is finished he won't ever have to have his ears shaved again.......

We are routing for you, Rollo!!!!

Monday, May 16, 2011

Congratulations!

Found this today from Helen Marie posted on facebook on Saturday:OMG!!! We went to dog show in Woodland today. Striker won his class. Striker got winners dog. Striker got best of winners. Striker got BEST OF BREED! Groups were at three, we got out of Sporting Group at 4:30 - didn't get a placement but being there was great! Oh, and he got 2 more points!

Weekend Trial Report

Rain again - or didn't anyone notice.  Agility trial in Dixon was moved to Sacramento area with none of the group attending.

Christy and Rollo competed in Breed over the weekend.  She said the ground was a mess so she carried Rollo from car to building hoping not to slip in the mud.  Rollo took reserve on Thursday, Saturday and Sunday.  Friday he earned a 2 point win.  All he needs now are 2 Majors.

Helen Marie and Striker worked on Rally Advance and Beginning Novice (obedience).  Striker earned 2 legs in Rally Advance and his first leg in Beginning Novice.  He was robbed of a third Rally leg but that's another story. He showed in Breed on Thursday taking Winner's Dog and 1 point.  Friday he took Reserve.

CONGRATULATIONS TO BOTH DOGS AND HANDLERS!
Looking a bit tired after a very long day!

Ube Condition

Just wanted to update Ube is doing better and is stable. Ube had a internal bleed going on, for unknown reasons. The bleed has stopped, and it was before he needed to receive a transfusion. Hopefully after the blood works comes back we'll have a better idea of what the cause was or is. Ube is resting today at the vets, but if things go well, he should come home tomorrow. Keep thinking those good thoughts. And Thank you!!!!!

Good Thoughts for Ube

I need everyone to have good thoughts for Ube. He was neutered on Friday, and on Saturday evening we had to rush him to the vet. At this time, we don't know whats wrong with him, only that it has nothing to do with his being neutered. Please pass along good thought to him, wishing him well. Right now his condition is serious.

It is recorded in two parts, Coffee and Sydney starting and Ube and Me finishing. The two dogs are together doing the circuit. But you and your dog will do it all. You will be allowed three errors, and then you are done. Here are the videos. Watch and listen and you will here what is being done.

BREAK TIME'S OVER!!!

This is mainly for the beginning class but working our dogs actually applies to all of the classes. The only way for us to improve is to practice, practice, practice!!

Now that it is getting a little nicer weather and longer evenings, we need to think about working our dogs. We have many things to teach them yet contacts and weaves for example. Both are time consuming. This past week in class we were only able to cover 3 exercises we need to improve on this. Any suggestions welcomed. Part of the problem is dogs not getting home work done. We are all guilty of that. Over the next couple of months we are going to cover contacts and also keep up with other things. The next class will be a review of past weeks. If you would like a list of things let me know. Our dogs skills will only improve if we work the dogs outside of the class, Otherwise it will take forever for the dogs to learn the lessons we are trying to teach them. And they can not progress in class which also has an effect on everyone in class.

So with this said I am going take my own advise and do some homework with Ube.

Donna

P.S. Class this Saturday, for those of you interested. We'll combine the classes, so if interested show up at 9 am.

Birthday Girl!

Helen Marie sent the following photo and message.
Today is Merlot's 10th birthday. She is my little rescue Brittany that I picked up at Denny's in King City, exchange site (her owners came up from Ventura)
Merlot has been a lot of fun, ask Magnum and Striker. She is the first of my Jr. Hunters to got her title in four straight and my first perfect 10 in scoring on the JH test.
She ended up my first RAE dog (with Magnum about two minutes later) and my first Excellent Standard and Excellent Jumpers agility titled dog.

Classes Starting

Just thinking about classes starting soon, makes me wag my tail!!!

I can't speak about anyone else, but I am ready to resume my training. I have relaxed long enough. Saturday will be here before you know it, so tell your partner to bush off your training bag, and start getting ready. If you are coming to the new game class, be sure to tell your partner to bring plenty of goodies, we will get treats and more treats in this class. Yum, can't wait.

Please RAIN, RAIN, GO AWAY, COME AGAIN SOME OTHER DAY!!!! Everyone start chanting this, and we'll be able to have class.

See you then,

Ube - the red dog
