Quote of the Week

The great pleasure of a dog is that you may make a fool of yourself with him and not only will he not scold you, but he will make a fool of himself too.

Quote of the Week

One reason a dog can be such a comfort when you're feeling blue is that he doesn't try to find out why.

Starters Class Circuit

Starters Class - for you next class you will be doing a circuit. We decided to record it for you so you can see what you need to practice this week. It is recorded in two parts, Coffee and Sydney starting and Ube and Me finishing. The two dogs are together doing the circuit. But you and your dog will do it all. You will be allowed three errors, and then you are done. Here are the videos. Watch and listen and you will here what is being done.

BREAK TIME'S OVER!!!

This is mainly for the beginning class but working our dogs actually applies to all of the classes. The only way for us to improve is to practice, practice, practice!!

Now that it is getting a little nicer weather and longer evenings, we need to think about working our dogs. We have many things to teach them yet contacts and weaves for example. Both are time consuming. This past week in class we were only able to cover 3 exercises we need to improve on this. Any suggestions welcomed. Part of the problem is dogs not getting home work done. We are all guilty of that. Over the next couple of months we are going to cover contacts and also keep up with other things. The next class will be a review of past weeks. If you would like a list of things let me know. Our dogs skills will only improve if we work the dogs outside of the class, Otherwise it will take forever for the dogs to learn the lessons we are trying to teach them. And they can not progress in class which also has an effect on everyone in class.

So with this said I am going take my own advise and do some homework with Ube.

Donna

P.S. Class this Saturday, for those of you interested. We'll combine the classes, so if interested show up at 9 am.

Quote of the Week

I like them all — pointers, setters, retrievers, spaniels — what have you. I've had good ones and bad of several kinds. Most of the bad ones were my fault and most of the good ones would have been good under any circumstances.

Quote of the Week

Every dog should have a man of his own. There is nothing like a well-behaved person around the house to spread the dog's blanket for him, or bring him his supper when he comes home man-tired at night.

Quote of the Week

How true it is that dogs reflect the character of their masters!
A noisy, blustering windbag of a man inevitably has a dog that rushes out to roar at everything that will give ground to him.
The dour chap possesses a sullen beast of kind,
and your hail fellow sort of person usually owns a merry member of the tail-waggers that considers all passers-by friends.

Birthday Girl!

Helen Marie sent the following photo and message.
Today is Merlot's 10th birthday. She is my little rescue Brittany that I picked up at Denny's in King City, exchange site (her owners came up from Ventura)
Merlot has been a lot of fun, ask Magnum and Striker. She is the first of my Jr. Hunters to got her title in four straight and my first perfect 10 in scoring on the JH test.
She ended up my first RAE dog (with Magnum about two minutes later) and my first Excellent Standard and Excellent Jumpers agility titled dog.
Happy Birthday Merlie Girlie!

Classes Starting

Just thinking about classes starting soon, makes me wag my tail!!!

I can't speak about anyone else, but I am ready to resume my training. I have relaxed long enough. Saturday will be here before you know it, so tell your partner to bush off your training bag, and start getting ready. If you are coming to the new game class, be sure to tell your partner to bring plenty of goodies, we will get treats and more treats in this class. Yum, can't wait.

Please RAIN, RAIN, GO AWAY, COME AGAIN SOME OTHER DAY!!!! Everyone start chanting this, and we'll be able to have class.

See you then,

Ube - the red dog
