Prize Week, Class Schedule
Since this week is Valentine Day, we are going to do another prize. Leave a comment before Sunday morning, to be eligible for the drawing. Another nice prize may await you!!!
Class Schedule: the next session class dates will be: March 8, 29, April 12, 19 and 26, May 10th. The current session has two weeks remaining. Subject to change due to rain. Times to remain the same. In May we will return to evening classes. The weekend that we are not doing classes are trial weekends If you're interested in watching, let us know and we'll give you information and what where and when.
Also, purpose of the blog, I have been saying for a long time that we needed to do a web page. But, I just never took the time to do it. Then in one week’s time, I got two notices to look at different people’s blog, and I decided that Tandem should do one. So…………….that’s how it started.
What do we want to see the blog used for? Many things a means to communicate with students, for students to post their accomplishments, but mainly, I hope to get students more motivated and perhaps inspired to work and train their dogs. Setting goals is important, work on a cross that you have problems with, make it a positive not a negative. We hope by our setting goals, meeting them and sharing them with you to motivate you. Improve your sit stays, downs on tables, lead out pivots, etc. All of these are small goals which help us reach the larger goal. By sharing we hope to inspire you to set and reach new goals. What can I do to help inspire you?? Let me know!!!
What would you like to see in the blog? We are open to all comments. if you don't want to post your comment on the site, then email us.

Sydney and Donna,
I signed up for several weekends in Dixon with Kerry. I have been working downs for dinner with him. My goal is for him to down when amped up. I would love ideas of some short term goals for him and for Lea so that I can go to that list first when working at home. Obviously we will have a weave pole goal. Both entry and staying in til the end.
Jennifer
I just mailed in my entry for 2/28 in Dixon. Guess I need to fill out some more.
Thanks for putting in the class shedule, I didn't know what Sundays might be free to enter trials and didn't want to miss a class.
Christy
Jennifer,
Pick one or two short term goals for each dog. Then pick a date that gives you enough time to train them. For example on Jan 1 for Coffee I set one month for 12 poles. I set 2 months for the box work because I would be focusing first on weaves and the box work requires quite a few handling moves. Now, I'm primarily focusing on box work and continuing on weaves. March 1 is our box goal date.
For my fast downs and better recalls I never gave myself a date and guess what? I haven't focused on them!
Pick one part of the weave behavior and give yourself a week or two to accomplish it. Then move to another with Kerry.
Teach Lea a roll over by March 1!
This is my first blog! I guess I'm going to set my goals in chronological order. I want more focus while we wait to go in the ring. I stayed away until called by the steward. While we waited at the gate, Indy was pulling me all around, jumping and barking at the dog in the ring & everything else around him. My next goal will be to keep him from running after his lead when removed and tossed.
Sue,
Those are excellent goals. If you like we can talk about them on Sunday. You need to develop a routine to preceed going to the start line. I can show you a way to work on your leash behavior.
Donna
I think the blog is a terrific idea and should be better than a website for interactive use.
I have the dates of the new schedule down in my book, most of them we will be able to attend.
Magnum and Merlot are already entered Sat and Sun at Mt Diablo and Vallejo trials. We will only do Sat with the Shelties as we are already entered in Petaluma for obedience on Sun that weekend.

not much to say except several of my programs don't like this bloging stuff; finally dusted off windoes internet explorer to write to the blog (a little too close to Borg for my taste). i'm sure i'll be a better person for going through all this, but the point is to become a better handler. goals are going to have to be directed at the handler to improve the dogs performance so with that in mind:
* start doing Dayan Qigong to be calmer for Baill
* change-up daly walks to longer distance speed walks to increse stamina
Dick,
That might work but you can keep Baille calm by moving smoothly and indicating where you want him to go. Lateral distance and sending ahead to obstacles (esp tunnel) will let you take the shorter path!
Dick, what is Dayan Qigong ?
Sue
Sue,
That's a great photo of Indy. Now you need to click on "Follow this blog" so we can see a minature on the cover page.
